Real Future History
April 28, 2007 |
In this article from this past Friday’s Jerusalem post In Jerusalem section, you can read about the planned light rail system which is intended to reinvigorate Jerusalem’s city center by, among other things, connecting some of Jerusalem’s outlying areas directly to the center of town.
What struck me about this article and the compaints of the various Arabs mentioned therein was my sudden glimpse of the future while reading this article. Let’s play out the events:
- Light rail system is planned to include stops in Arab areas including East Jerusalem
- Arabs complain that this rail system is going to be discriminatory and will alienate and ignore the needs of the Arab population as well as running through what they describe as “occupied lands”
- Light rail system begins operation and does indeed serve the Arab areas of Jerusalem
- In protest of the above complaints, some sick psycho from one of the previously mentioned Arab areas decides to blow himself up and take the light rail train with him
- In order to prevent future attacks, light rail administrators do in fact bypass the very same Arab areas originally served
- All of Arabland and AntiIsraelWorld rejoice as a new source of tension arises to further justify their Israel-bashing and Jew-bashing
And thus the future is born here and now…

you forget… it will never be anything OTHER than a source of tension, because it’s never going to be ‘finished’ and will most likely never run. at least that’s still my personal belief.
You’re probably right. If they don’t finish it, then they can keep siphoning money away from the public to finish it.
