Professor beaten; attackers cite KU creationism class

This is how it begins. Little episodes of violence that people dismiss because, as the Senator quoted in the article says,

“This was just thugs. They used a flimsy excuse, if they had one, to behave as thugs. They can talk about the ID (intelligent design) course if they want to, but that’s not an excuse.”

Dismissing it as “just thugs” is what will permit this type of thing to continue. It begins as just a bunch of thugs. Then it becomes a gang of thugs. Then they aren’t thugs anymore. They’re just average citizens who know they can get away with it. And it grows and grows because it isn’t really about politics, right? And it isn’t because of what he believes, right? And it isn’t because he’s a Jew or an atheist or a Muslim, right? And it most certainly is not because he’s not like you… right?
