People sometimes ask me how, living in Israel, I am so aware of popular culture in the US. I am often amazed at how I know about so much stupid stuff that seemingly has no relevance. My wife tells me that she is proud of my knowledge of esoterica. But sometimes, I wish I knew more about things like math and physics. Today I came across one of those things that I never heard of until practically this minute and now it seems like I should have known about it already and I’m disappointed that I hadn’t heard about it before.

I read a lot of gadget blogs. Engadget, Gizmodo, The Gadgeteer, and others. So today I’m reading Gizmodo and I come across this post about some new accessory to something called a Nalgene water bottle. Here’s a quote from the article:

Jeez, what can’t you do with a Nalgene bottle nowadays?

The tone of the writer makes me actually feel like a total loser because I have absolutely no idea what the frig a Nalgene bottle is! So immediately, I jump on over to my good friend Google and do a search for “Nalgene” and of course, I’m directed to their website.

So now, after familiarizing myself with their range of products, not only am I annoyed that I never heard of them sooner, I’m even more pissed that their products are likely never going to be available in Israel.

well you should be happy to know that i too had no idea what nalgene was, but it did ring a bell for some reason, so i went to the nalgene link you provided and realized it was nothing more than additional stupid ways to waste our american money and the only reason it jogged the recesses of my memory was because like all the rest of the brain dead american drones that watch endless tv, i too have been indoctrinated with hours and hours of subliminal messages from commercials of everything from the underwear i buy to what resort serves the best alcohol. oh well, i am a true blooded american through and through, guess the mind games work :) sorry for the run on sentence
    love ya
