Take a look at this picture . Tell me that you don’t think that this picture is a sign of just exactly why this country is in the situation it is in. This is a woman, the leader, if you will, of a protest against budget cuts. She marched from somewhere in South Israel, I don’t remember where and it doesn’t really matter, to the capitol so she could protest the way single mothers are being treated as a result of the new economic plan. She is meeting with the president of the State of Israel. And how does she prepare for this important meeting? She wears a sweatsuit. Who does she think she is? Paulie Walnuts? What kind of total lack of respect for the establishment and for the government does she have that she doesn’t even think to comb her hair before meeting the man who is not that powerful but is a symbol of the government of this great country of ours? This is not a sign simply of lack of respect for the governement, which given this is a protestor would make sense. This is a demonstration of lack of self respect and lack of decency. It is symptomatic of a breakdown in the social fabric (no pun intended) which declares that, “I am more important than you no matter who you are.” It is a sickness. Another sickness in a society where there is already an abundance of such diseases.
